NARVE: Goa took a significant stride in expanding its spiritual tourism offerings with the foundation-laying of the ‘Gomant Sarita Poojan’—a riverfront Ghat Aarti development project—at Narve along the Mandovi River.
The ceremony was attended by Union Minister of State for New & Renewable Energy Shripad Naik, Tourism Minister Rohan A. Khaunte, MP Sadanand Shet Tanavade, Mayem MLA Premendra Shet, Director of Tourism Kedar Naik, GTDC MD Kuldeep Arolkar, senior officials, local leaders, and community representatives.
Union Minister Shripad Naik said the project would tap Narve’s rich cultural and spiritual significance, creating a serene space for devotees and boosting spiritual tourism.
Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte said the development aligns with Goa’s focus on regenerative and community-centric tourism, adding value to local livelihoods while enhancing cultural experiences for visitors.
MLA Premendra Shet said the upcoming Ghat Aarti would offer a distinctive devotional experience and open new avenues for community-based tourism in surrounding villages.
Compered by GTDC Deputy General Manager (Marketing) Deepak Narvekar, the event marked the beginning of a project that includes riverbank beautification, designated Aarti spaces, improved visitor access and amenities.
The initiative aims to promote cultural preservation, local employment, and a stronger spiritual tourism circuit in the State.
