CANACONA: The foundation stone for the restoration and beautification of the ‘Maand’ at Velip House, along with the construction of a protection wall, was laid at Gulem, V.P. Shristhal, Canacona Constituency under the MLA-LAD Scheme.
Minister for Sports & Youth Affairs, Tribal Welfare and Art & Culture, and MLA of Canacona, Ramesh Tawadkar, said the Maand at Velip House is a significant site of culture and tradition, hosting important rituals and sacred ceremonies.
“With this project, the restoration and beautification will enhance its heritage value, while the protection wall will ensure safety and durability for years to come. This reflects our commitment to preserving culture while creating durable infrastructure for the people,” Tawadkar added.
The Minister also assured the villagers that no work in Gulem will be left incomplete and encouraged them to propose more developmental projects for the benefit of the community.
The foundation stone ceremony was attended by Sarpanch of Shristhal Panchayat Sejal Gaonkar, Ward Panch Smt. Akshada Velip, Panch members Ganesh Gaonkar, Rajesh Gaonkar, Rajesh Velip, Sarpanch of Cotigao Panchayat Smt. Vrunda Velip, BJP Mahila Karyakartas, BJP Canacona Mandal President Prabhakar Gaonkar, former BJP Canacona President Vishal Desai, Biodiversity Chairman (Shristhal) Vinay Tubki, Shirish Pai, PWD AE & JE, PWD officials, contractor Abhijeet Desai, along with Velip community members and villagers.
