COLLEM: Collem Police, in coordination with the Forest Department, arrested four individuals for allegedly illegally entering the Bhagwan Mahaveer Wildlife Sanctuary and attacking forest patrolling staff.
According to officials, the accused trespassed into the protected area without permission. When confronted by forest personnel, the group reportedly became aggressive and assaulted the staff with a knife and stones, resulting in injuries to several patrolling members.
The injured forest staff have been given medical attention, and an investigation is underway to determine the motive behind the intrusion. Authorities have confirmed that strict legal action will be pursued under relevant sections of the Wildlife Protection Act and the Indian Penal Code.
Forest officials have condemned the attack and reiterated the need for stricter enforcement against unauthorized entry into protected zones, especially given the risk to both wildlife and personnel.
