MARGAO: In a major development, the Colva police have arrested four persons accused of raping two minor girls at Benaulim.
The incident happed on Sanday early morning at 3:30 am, near the Taj hotel. The two girls were out with friends for birthday celebrations wherein the accused came as policemen. The friends of the victim girls were assaulted.
All four accused raped both minor girls.
The accused have been identified as Asif Hateli, Housing Board Gogal, Rajesh Mane, Gajanand Chinchinkar and Nitin Yabbal.
The victims have filed a complaint with the Colva police station. Knowing the sensitivity of the police, higher-ups, including SP South Pankaj Kumar Singh and DyYSP Harish Madkaikar rushed to the Colva police station.
Police called Women right’s activist Auda Viegas to speak to minor victims.
Police have registered case on four accused under under section 419, 354 A, 384, 323, 506(II), 376 r/w 34 IPC, sec 4 , 7 , 11 (v) of POSCO Act, 8 (2) of GC act.
While speaking to Goemkarponn Auda Viegas said this is an inhuman and unjustified act.
“Police have acted quite well, and I am hopeful that police will not leave any stone to take the case to conclusion,” she said.
