Margao: Fatorda Police have arrested four persons in connection with a violent road rage incident that left two men injured near the Old Hospicio Hospital on Wednesday afternoon.
The complaint was lodged by Mohammad Rashid, a resident of Benaulim and native of Uttarakhand, who alleged that around 1:20 pm on August 20, he was assaulted following an argument over overtaking. According to police, the rider of a Hero Honda Passion motorcycle first abused Rashid in filthy language and then attacked him with a screwdriver on his left arm.
When Rashid attempted to seek safety inside the Urban Health Centre, Fatorda, the accused allegedly regrouped with around 15 others, formed an unlawful assembly, and chased him. They are said to have assaulted him with kicks and even a fire extinguisher, causing injuries. Rashid’s brother, Mohammad Shavez, was also attacked and slapped during the incident.
Following investigation, police arrested four accused — Abdul Nabawale of Pajifond, Imran Ballary of Motidongor, Imam Kassi of Pajifond, and Rehan Shaikh @ Yallappa of Pajifond. The accused were produced before the court on Thursday and remanded to four days of police custody.
The case is being investigated by PSI Satvashil Devidas of Fatorda Police Station, under the supervision of senior officers.
