ANJUNA: In a major development in the Birch by Romeo Lane fire tragedy that killed 25 people in Arpora, four senior managers of the establishment have been remanded to six days of police custody after Anjuna Police registered Crime No. 154/2025 under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023. The offence was registered at 9:36 am on December 7, 2025, based on a state complaint by PSI Navneet Goltekar, who stated that the club’s owners, partners, event organisers and managing staff had recklessly organised a fire show on the night of December 6 without fire safety equipment, emergency exits or basic precautions, fully aware that such negligence could trigger a fatal accident. The club was also found operating without mandatory permissions and licences. The massive blaze resulted in the death of 25 people and injuries to several others, including tourists and staff. During the investigation, police arrested Corporate General Manager Rajiv Modak (49), Gate Manager Priyanshu Thakur (32), Bar Manager Rajveer Singhania (32) and General Manager Vivek Singh (27), all of whom have now been placed in police custody till December 13, 2025. Further investigation is ongoing.
