Mapusa: Mapusa Police have registered a case against four persons for allegedly assaulting a group of youths with beer bottles and fists at Bodgini in Mapusa, causing injuries and financial losses.
The offence was registered on March 5 at 6:28 pm based on a complaint filed by Shourya Ramkrishna Mayekar, a resident of Shetyewado, Dhuler, Mapusa in Bardez.
According to the complaint, the incident occurred on March 4 at around 8:30 pm at Bodgini, Mapusa. The accused persons have been identified as Vithal Suresh Kudnekar of Reismagos, Betim; Mallikarjun Lakhan Hosagowdar of Sonar Bhat, Reismagos; Sayed Rafiq Bhandari of Malim, Betim; and Nitesh Vijay Karapurkar of Near Ice Factory, Betim.
Police said the accused, acting with common intention, allegedly abused the complainant, his sister Nikita Frankey Carvalho, his brother Divyam Virendra Mayekar, and their friends Krish Navelkar of Colvale and Vinit Vinay Dhuri of Mapusa in filthy language and threatened them with dire consequences.
The accused persons then allegedly assaulted the complainant, his sister, brother and friend Krish Navelkar using beer bottles, slaps and fist blows, causing bodily injuries.
During the incident, property loss was also reported. Nikita Frankey Carvalho reportedly suffered losses amounting to Rs 35,000, while Krish Navelkar reported the loss of a gold chain valued at approximately Rs 2 lakh that went missing during the scuffle.
Police further stated that the accused allegedly created public nuisance by consuming alcohol and littering in an open public place.
