Old Goa: Old Goa Police have registered a case against four persons for illegally dumping garbage at the Old Village Panchayat premises at Corlim, posing a potential health hazard to residents in the area.
According to a complaint lodged by Mr. Luciano Baptista Pereira, resident of Calwaddo, Corlim, the incident occurred on January 5, 2026, at around 8.45 pm near the Corlim Village Panchayat, Old Goa, Tiswadi. The accused persons allegedly acted with common intention and dumped garbage waste within the panchayat premises, despite knowing that such an act could lead to the spread of contagious diseases dangerous to public health.
The accused have been identified as Uma Shankar s/o Bhola Mahato (38), Manish Kumar s/o Vinod Ram (22), Gautam Kumar Ram (18) and Kamesh Ram s/o Subodh Ram (32), all presently residing at Corlim, Old Goa, and originally hailing from Bihar.
Police stated that the accused were placed under arrest at around 2.00 am on January 6, 2026, and were released on bail at 2.10 am on the same day after complying with all Supreme Court guidelines.
Further investigation in the case is being carried out by PSI Sanket Pokhare.
