ST CRUZ: Old Goa Police have registered Crime No. 10/2026 under Section 325 read with 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Section 8 of the Goa Animal Preservation Act, 1995, in connection with the illegal transportation of meat suspected to be beef at Kalapur, Santa Cruz.
The FIR was registered on January 10, 2026, at 6.06 pm on the state complaint of PC Buckle No. 7977 Birddy Cardozo, attached to Old Goa Police Station. According to the complaint, on January 10 at around 2.45 pm, near Bismillah Meat Shop, close to Santa Cruz Church, Kalapur, Santa Cruz, Tiswadi, the police caught four accused red-handed while allegedly dealing in and transporting illegal red-coloured meat suspected to be beef.
The accused have been identified as Mushtak Hussain Khatib (46), Jamir Khatib (45), both residents of Chamunda Enclave, Bondir, Santa Cruz; Asif Abdul Khadar (36), a labourer originally from Nandgad, Belgaum, Karnataka; and Umar Faruq Beppari (36), a labourer from Belhangal, Belgaum, Karnataka, presently staying at Bismillah Meat Shop, Kalapur.
Police seized about 350 kilograms of suspected beef, valued at approximately ₹1 lakh, which was being transported in two vehicles — a Mahindra Bolero pick-up (GA-07-T-3181) and a Tata Sumo (GA-07-C-3072).
Further investigation in the case is being carried out by PSI Sanket S. Pokhare of Old Goa Police Station.
