PANAJI: Drishti Marine lifesavers rescued four persons, including a mother–child duo from Tamil Nadu and a septuagenarian tourist from the United Kingdom, and successfully traced two missing children along Goa’s coastline during the weekend.
Arambol Beach:
A 22-year-old man from Telangana, who had entered the sea in an intoxicated state along with five friends, began drowning after failing to navigate the waters. Lifesavers Vishnu Kubal and Manoj Parab immediately responded using a surfboard and rescue tube. With additional jet ski support, the victim was safely brought ashore. His condition is reported to be stable.
Mandrem Beach:
A mother and her 10-year-old son from Tamil Nadu were rescued after they were unable to return to shore while swimming. Lifesaver Dattaguru Korgankar used a rescue board, assisted by Sudhir Parab on a jet ski, to safely bring both ashore. Their condition was stable following the rescue.
Baga Beach:
Drishti Marine lifesavers traced a missing five-year-old child from Pune after the parents reported the child missing. A prompt search operation was launched, and the child was located at another point on the beach. The child was reunited with the parents after completing due formalities.
Calangute Beach:
A 39-year-old man from Bagalkot, Karnataka, sustained a cut to his leg after stepping on broken glass while wading in the water. Lifesavers administered first aid on-site and advised him to seek further medical treatment at a hospital.
Palolem Beach:
A 78-year-old tourist from the UK was rescued after being caught in a rip current while swimming. Lifesaver Dinesh Velip noticed the situation and successfully brought her safely to shore.
In another incident at Palolem, a male tourist from Kandivali, Mumbai, who had misplaced his wallet the previous night, was assisted by lifesaver Gajananand, who found the purse while reporting for duty. The wallet was handed over to the tourist in the presence of police.
Additionally, a three-year-old girl from Bengaluru was reported missing at the same beach. Lifesavers immediately initiated a search and traced the child within ten minutes near a nearby shack. She was reunited with her family after due identification procedures.
