Mandrem: Mandrem Police have registered four separate cases against women vendors for allegedly obstructing tourists while illegally selling items along the Arambol beach shore.
The complaints were lodged by Police Constables Yatin P. Shetye and Anthony Monteiro, both attached to the Tourist Police Unit, Calangute.
According to police, the incidents occurred before 5:30 pm on Monday when the women were found selling woollen threads, mehendi cones and hand bands to tourists, thereby causing obstruction to the public on the beach.
The accused have been identified as Minakshi Lamani, wife of Parshuram Lamani, and Saroja Lamani, wife of Kumar Lamani, both residents of Khalchawada, Arambol and natives of Karnataka; Chandrava Lamani, wife of Chandru Lamani, resident of Gawadewada, Arambol; and Uma Karabhari, daughter of Rangappa Karabhari, resident of Girkarwada, Arambol, all originally from different tandas in Gadag district, Karnataka. Police said all four were found violating Section 285 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, which pertains to obstruction of public movement.
The offences have been registered under Mandrem Police Station Crime Nos. 96/2025 to 99/2025.
Further investigations are being conducted by HC Anand Parab, PSI Laximan Dessai, ASI Digambar Kambli and LPSI Archana Sharma.
