PANAJI: Day 5 of the Goa University Inter-Collegiate Football Championship 2025-26 witnessed some thrilling encounters across the state. At the Goa University Ground in Taleigao, Fr. Agnel College of Arts & Commerce, Pilar, defeated Don Bosco College of Engineering, Fatorda, Margao, 2-0. Pritam Basak opened the scoring in the 45th minute, and Ruben Azevedo doubled the lead in the 58th minute, ensuring a comfortable victory for Pilar.
Meanwhile, at the Rosary Church Ground in Navelim, the opening match saw Government College of Arts, Science & Commerce, Khandola, beat Don Bosco College, Panjim, 4-2. Gaurav Kavlekar scored twice in the 19th and 56th minutes, while Suyash Chodankar added two more goals in the 54th and 70th minutes. Don Bosco managed two goals through Vismay Doware in the 38th minute and Wesley D’Souza in the 64th minute. In the second match, Sant Sohirobanath Ambiye Government College of Arts & Commerce, Pernem, thrashed P.E.S’s Rajaram & Tarabai Bandekar College of Pharmacy, Farmagudi, 5-0. Sheldon Rodrigues and Dipesh Parsekar scored early goals in the 22nd and 23rd minutes, respectively, with Parsekar adding another in the 44th minute. Vipal Dhargalkar and Ankur Malik scored in the 50th and 54th minutes, rounding off a dominant performance, with Dipesh Parsekar named the Best Performer of the day.
Day 6 matches on 26th September are scheduled at both venues. At Goa University Ground, Taleigao, Rosary College, Navelim, will face S.R.I.E.I.T. College, Shiroda at 10:00 a.m., followed by Goa College of Pharmacy against P.G. Goa University at 2:00 p.m., and St. Joseph Vaz, Cortalim, taking on Goa Engineering College at 3:15 p.m. At Rosary College Ground, Navelim, Government College, Sanquelim, will play Goa College of Agriculture at 9:00 a.m., VP’s Mandre College faces Kare College of Law, Margao at 11:00 a.m., and P.C.C.E. College, Verna, meets St. Xavier’s College, Mapusa at 2:00 p.m. The championship continues to deliver exciting football action as colleges across Goa battle for top honours.
