MARGAO: Fr. Agnelo Youth Sports Club Paroda made short of work Raia Sporting Club by defeating them 6-4 and sealed their place in the quarter-finals of the 32nd Curtorim Panchayat Cup organised by Curtorim Gymkhana.
The match had a beautiful start with both the teams showcasing beautiful football. Paroda broke their deadlock in the 10th minute when Melson took a powerful shot which hit the Raia defender and went in. Paroda netted their 2 nd goal through Joy Fernandes who was unmarked and tapped the ball in the back of the net.
Paroda made it 3-0 just before half-time as Dranzil unleashed a long range grounder which caught the Raia keeper making an easy blunder, resulting the ball in the nets.
In the Second half, more goals galore as Paroda netted their 4th goal through Salvin Fernandes. Paroda again scored their 5th goal through Melson and made it 5-0.
As the game proceeded Raia started with an all-out attack as their striker Oilex Oliveira struck back to back 2 goals in 2 mins getting the scoreline to 5-2.
Paroda then again scored through Joy Fernandes who registered his brace and made it 6-2 for Paroda. Raia again displayed some attacking football as they again scored 2 back to back goals in a span of 2 minutes through Silvano and Rio, getting the scoreline to 6-4.
James Dcosta (Jimmy ) Panch Member of Village Panchayat Curtorim gave away the man of the match award to Joy Fernandes of Fr. Agnelo Youth Sports Club Paroda
