BENAULIM: Fr. Angel YC Paroda booked their place in the final of the 34th Super Soccer Football Tournament in emphatic style, thrashing Sao Jose de Areal 4–0 in the second semi-final at the Benaulim ground.
Paroda set the tone early, breaking the deadlock in the 7th minute through Godwin Fernandes, whose clinical finish rattled Areal’s rhythm. Despite spirited attacking bursts, Areal were repeatedly denied by goalkeeper Ravi Fernandes, who produced a string of decisive saves.
The absence of star defender Bersal Viegas left Areal’s backline vulnerable, and Paroda exploited it ruthlessly after the break. Omkar Gaokar and Joy Fernandes orchestrated wave after wave of incisive attacks, creating space for Godwin to double the lead in the 45th minute before completing his hat-trick four minutes later.
Livan Clemente then put the result beyond doubt, converting from the penalty spot to seal a commanding 4–0 victory.
Godwin’s stellar performance earned him the Man of the Match award, presented by GFA Vice President Anthony Pango and Cana Benaulim Sporting Association President Caetano Fernandes.
Paroda, in irresistible form, now look ahead to Sunday’s final, with momentum firmly on their side.
