Letter to NSUI national leadership alleges physical attack, filthy language, and repeated humiliation

Panaji::The Goa Congress unit has been rocked by sensational allegations after National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) State President Naushad Chowdhary lodged a formal complaint against Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) President Amit Patkar, accusing him of physical assault, verbal abuse, and continued humiliation of party youth leaders.
In a letter addressed to NSUI National President Varun Chaudhary, Naushad detailed an incident that allegedly occurred on the evening of August 14, 2025, at the Congress House in Panaji, during a candlelight protest against “VoteChori.”
According to him, Amit Patkar confronted him near the entrance, questioning why he had not been invited to NSUI programmes and why the visit of NSUI Secretary-in-Charge for Goa, Vaishnavi Bhardwaj, had not been intimated.
When Naushad explained that he had attempted to contact Patkar several times but received no response, the GPCC chief allegedly turned aggressive.
The complaint states that Patkar pushed the NSUI leader on the stairway, caught him by the collar, and used highly derogatory language in front of NSUI in-charge Vaishnavi Bhardwaj and GPCC general secretary Adv. Shrinivas Khalap.
Naushad further alleged that Patkar threatened him in Konkani, saying “Chedyechya Apun Tuka Mapusa yeun Dakhaytalo”—translated as “Son of a prostitute, I’ll come to Mapusa and show you”—and followed it up with more menacing remarks: “You don’t know me personally and I can do anything.”
Calling the episode “unprovoked aggression” that violated all standards of political decency, Naushad charged that this was not an isolated incident.
He cited a previous humiliation on July 9, 2025, when Patkar publicly berated him on the NSUI Goa WhatsApp group comprising 90 members.
The GPCC president had accused him of functioning independently and “contacting only when money was needed,” before abruptly leaving the group. Naushad described the remarks as “baseless and insulting,” insisting that NSUI Goa was functioning on its own resources without financial support from the GPCC.
The NSUI State President alleged that Patkar has consistently tried to “demoralise and put him down” whenever new initiatives were launched to expand the organisation in Goa. “Such behaviour not only disrespects committed party workers but also brings disrepute to the Congress party as a whole,” he wrote in his complaint.
The letter, also marked to the AICC secretary in charge of Goa, Manikrao Thakre and co-incharge Dr Anjali Nimbalkar, urges the high command to take strong disciplinary action against Patkar. Naushad has warned that if no action is initiated, NSUI will be compelled to file a police complaint against the GPCC chief.
The explosive allegations have triggered murmurs of unease within the Congress ranks in Goa, with observers warning that the feud could deepen factional cracks in the party’s state unit at a time when unity is most needed.
