ANJUNA: In a late-night raid, Anjuna Police arrested a French national for possession of cocaine near Baba Au Rhum Café at Badem, Anjuna, in the early hours of Tuesday.
According to police, acting on specific and reliable information, a team led by LPSI Leesha Kharbe of Anjuna Police Station conducted a raid between 11.25 pm on September 22 and 1.30 am on September 23.
During the operation, the accused, identified as Melanie Costantini (46), a French national currently residing in Anjuna, was found with 7.71 grams of cocaine concealed in a black bag. The seized drugs are estimated to be worth around ₹77,000.
Police said the drugs and other exhibits were seized under a panchanama after complying with all mandatory provisions of the NDPS Act. The accused, who holds a valid multiple-entry visa, was arrested at 8.51 am on Tuesday.
A case has been registered under Section 21(b) of the NDPS Act, and further investigation is underway.
