Panaji – The Bhumiputra Yatra organised on Sunday 29th August 2021 by the Goa Pradesh Congress Committee has been called off as the frightened Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant denied permission to hold the rally of ten thousand Bhumiputras stated Congress Leader Khemlo Sawant.
We had written a letter to the Government Authority on 24th August seeking permission for holding Bhumiputra Yatra of ten thousand people by following the Covid protocol. Unfortunately, the permission granted by the Deputy Collector of Bicholim today has put restrictions on the number of participants in the rally with directions to follow Covid SOP issued by MHA of Government of India informed Khemlo Sawant.
The SOPs of MHA which allows only 100 participants in the rally which is just one percent of our expected participants. We will now reshedule our rally and again write to the government to allow us to hold rally with ten thousand participants including our GPCC President, CLP Leader, MLA’s, MP, State, District and Block Presidents and Members and citizens said Mangaldas Naik Sakhalim Block President.
If the Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant could hold a yatra with more than 100 workers recently why has the Congress been denied permission asked khemlo Sawant. He also pointed to the claims made by Chief Ministers wife Sulakshana Sawant that five thousand BJP workers had gathered to counter Sadbuddhi Rally of Congress Party. He said if BJP can gather five thousand people illegally, Congress has every right to ask for legal permission to hold rally with ten thousand Bhumiputras said Mangaldas Naik block president of Sakhalim who had applied for permission.
