SANCOALE: Acting on directions from the State administration, officials of ZIAV Private Limited carried out pumping operations at a well located within the premises of Our Lady of Health Church at Shindole, Sancoale, on Tuesday, removing fuel-contaminated water.
The operation was undertaken as an immediate measure to address the contamination, with officials coordinating on site to safely extract the polluted water. The pumping exercise continued for several hours, during which around five barrels of contaminated water were removed and secured for further action.
CEO Shriprasad Nayak said the company complied with instructions issued by the administration and completed the initial phase of pumping. He added that the firm will now await further directions from State authorities regarding disposal, noting that the process requires adherence to technical and environmental norms.
Nayak also assured that ZIAV Private Limited will extend full cooperation for any further steps, including additional pumping or logistical support, if required.
Authorities are expected to decide the method and location for safe disposal of the extracted water after consultations with concerned departments and technical experts. Officials said the situation continues to be monitored, with focus shifting to follow-up measures after the initial removal of the contaminated water.
