MAPUSA: A furniture shop belonging to former Verla-Canca Sarpanch late Milton Marques was gutted in fire this morning, causing a loss of ₹10 lakhs.
The shop “Casa Marques”, at Canca, caught fire this morning at 8 am.
Fire officials said two fire vehicles from Mapusa and Pernem Fire Service were pressed into service.
“By the time the fire team reached the spot, most of the material was gutted in the fire,” eyewitnesses said.
The mission to douse fire waa led by Mapusa officials Bosco Ferrao, incharge Mapusa fire station, Prashant y Shetgaonkar, Anand V Bandekar, Dilip U Sawant, Vishnu R Nai, Jitendra V Naik.
The Pilerne team consisted of P. N Naik, D. A. Gawade, S. S. Sawant, R. A. Pandre, B. D. Shirodkar.
