New Delhi: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Tuesday unveiled a long term strategic blueprint aimed at transforming the country’s armed forces into a technologically advanced and future ready military.
The document titled “Defence Forces Vision 2047: A Roadmap for a Future Ready Indian Military” was released at an event in South Block. The initiative outlines a comprehensive plan to modernise the armed forces and strengthen their ability to meet emerging global security challenges as the country works toward its development goal of becoming a developed nation by 2047.
The vision document has been prepared by the Headquarters Integrated Defence Staff and lays out key reforms required to build a modern and integrated defence force. It highlights the importance of adopting advanced technologies, strengthening training systems and improving coordination among the three services to prepare for future forms of warfare.
Senior military leadership attended the launch, including General Anil Chauhan, Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi and Air Chief Marshal AP Singh, along with top defence officials.
According to the roadmap, the armed forces will be developed into an integrated multi domain force capable of responding to a wide range of threats and protecting the country’s expanding strategic interests. The plan focuses on improving coordination between the army, navy and air force to ensure greater operational efficiency.
A major element of the strategy is the promotion of innovation and the adoption of emerging technologies. The document also stresses the need for a modern training framework that can equip personnel to handle complex future battle environments.
Another key pillar of the vision is strengthening self reliance in defence production. The roadmap encourages the development and deployment of indigenous technologies and systems tailored to India’s specific security needs. Expanding domestic defence manufacturing is expected to enhance operational readiness while supporting national economic growth.
The plan outlines clearly defined short term, medium term and long term capability goals that will guide reforms, institutional restructuring and strategic partnerships. It also calls for a broader national approach to security by combining military strength with diplomatic, technological and economic capabilities to ensure long term national security.
