Panaji::The Goa Association of Resident Doctors (GARD) has welcomed the state government’s decision to enhance their remuneration with effect from January 1, 2026, along with a 5 per cent annual increment, calling it a positive step towards recognising their role in the public healthcare system.
Quoting Health Minister Vishwajit Rane, GARD doctors were urged to express their appreciation for the decision, which he said reflects the government’s commitment to supporting resident doctors who form the backbone of patient care in government hospitals.
“GARD doctors play a vital role in strengthening patient care and supporting our public healthcare system. Their continued dedication to serving the people of Goa highlights the importance of timely decisions that acknowledge and support their contribution,” Rane said.
The Health Minister added that the government remains focused on working closely with GARD and the wider medical fraternity to further strengthen healthcare delivery and improve outcomes across the state.
GARD members said the enhancement in remuneration and assured yearly increment would boost morale among resident doctors and help ensure uninterrupted and quality medical services for patients in Goa’s government hospitals.
