CANACONA: After inspecting the ongoing works at Canacona’s Ravindra Bhavan separately on Wednesday, Minister for Arts & Culture Govind Gaude and Canacona MLA/Speaker Ramesh Tawadkar provided two different dates for completion of work, which has already missed several dates over a long delay for nearly 4 years.
After paying homage to UTAA martyr Mangesh Gaonkar at Ziltawadi(Gaondongrim), Art and Culture Minister Govind Gawde headed directly to Chaudi and entered the complex to inspect the construction of Ravindra Bhavan. Soon after Gaude left, Canacona MLA and Speaker Ramesh Tawadkar reached to inspect the ongoing works in the final stages at Ravidnra Bhavan, Canacona.
Interestingly, Minister Gaude said that the work of Ravindra Bhavan will be completed by August 2023, while Speaker Ramesh Tavadkar said that the work will be completed between September-to-October’2023.
Incidentally, the said Ravindra Bhavan project was originally scheduled for completion in 2019, but already in the 5th year (2023), the works still need to be completed for the foundation was laid in the year 2012 during the ministership of Ramesh Tawadkar.
These works, which began just before the 2017 assembly elections and progressed slowly, were further slowed down during the Corona period.
After inspecting the work pace, Minister Gaude instructed GSIDC officials to complete the work by August.
After Minister Gaude came and left, Canaocna MLA and Speaker Tawadkar came to visit the project and, speaking to journalists present at that time, said that the work would be completed only by September-October.
Meanwhile, while the two leaders inspected the works in the final stages of Canacona Ravindra Bhavan, an internal rift between the construction workers is likely to further affect the early completion of works.
According to sources, workers, technicians, and others have stopped the work at the Ravindra Bhavan project following a fight between the workers who came for the construction of Ravindra Bhavan and the Supervising Site-Engineer. In order to find a solution, a joint meeting of the labour leader and the Site_Engineer was held today by the officials of GSIDC and reportedly settled the issue.
