PANAJI: The Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs, Government of Goa, has deputed the Goa Under 19 boys and girls netball teams to participate in the 69th SGFI School National Games. The national level championship will be held in Mangalore, Karnataka, from December 25 to December 29, 2025.
Both teams will represent Goa against top school teams from across the country, as part of the School Games Federation of India calendar. The selection reflects the state’s continued focus on promoting netball at the youth level and providing competitive exposure to emerging talent.
The Goa boys Under 19 team will be led by captain Shuban Naik. The squad includes Prajwal Prabhu, Chinmay Desai, Kiran Devar, Advay Salelkar, Bhoopender Kashyap, Krunal Gaude, Sanket Kadam, Parth Desai, Raju Barona, Yeshwant Rawool and Tanush Gowda. The team will be coached by Sandeep Shetkar, with Amey Phadte serving as manager.
The Goa girls Under 19 team will be captained by Gautami Parit. The selected players are Sejal Netalkar, Akshara Dongre, Palak Kedar, Rushanka Dangui, Shrunkla Holkar, Aastha Shahapurkar, Vaibhavi Gawas, Dikshita Singh, Priyanka Fernandes, Rakhi Giri and Poonam Gunjal. The coaching responsibilities have been entrusted to Pratish Naik, while Megdaline D’Costa will accompany the team as manager.
Officials from the Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs extended their best wishes to both squads ahead of the national competition. The teams were seen off in the presence of senior DSYA officials, including Dr Ajay Gaude, Director, DSYA, and Dr Vivek Pawar, Deputy Director, DSYA, along with Rohidas Ghadi and Raju Pavar, both Assistant Physical Education Officers. Coaches and managers of the teams were also present.
The participation of Goa’s netball teams at the SGFI National Games is expected to strengthen the state’s presence in the sport and provide valuable experience to young players competing at the national stage.
