PORVORIM: The Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (GBSHE) on Tuesday through its academic council has decided to reduce 30 percent of the syllabus for students of class IX and Xll for the academic year 2020-21.
The decision was taken at meeting held today the Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (GBSHSE).
Goa board chairman Ramkrishna Samant speaking to goemkarponn.com said that the Academic Council has given approval for 30 percent reduction in syllabus for students from Class IX to Class XII for the current academic year.
“Academic council has given its nod for 30 percent reduction in syllabus for students of class lX & class Xll from the academic year 2020-21” said Samant
According to latest guidelines issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), schools will continue to remain shut till July 31, until further orders.
The students have already lost one-and-a-half month of the academic year 2020-21.
Sources informed that the decision to reduce the syllabus was taken after consulting stakeholders including the Principal’s Forum and Goa Headmasters Association.
“The decision to trim the syllabus will be applicable to only the current academic year,” sources said adding that the secondary and higher secondary schools will be informed about the syllabus, accordingly.
