PANAJI: The Goa Cricket Association has declared special cash rewards for the state’s U 19 side and their support staff following a dominant innings victory over Assam in the Cooch Behar Elite Cricket Tournament. The announcement comes as Goa registered back to back innings wins, marking one of their strongest starts in recent seasons.
GCA President Mahesh Dessai and the Managing Committee confirmed a cash prize of ₹1 lakh for Yash Kasvankar, whose remarkable 243 in the tournament opener against Chhattisgarh set the foundation for Goa’s first win and provided early momentum for the team’s campaign. Recognising the collective contribution of the squad, each player will receive ₹50,000, while members of the support staff will be given ₹25,000 for their efforts in preparing and guiding the young side.
Goa’s latest win against Assam was built on a commanding bowling performance. Assam were dismissed for 75 in their first innings and, after following on, were bowled out again for 86 within 41.2 overs, sealing the match in two and a half days. Goa’s only innings featured an important 88 from Dishank Misquin. The bowling unit delivered a clinical display, with Mihir Kudalkar producing exceptional figures of 3 for 0 in the first innings and 4 for 9 in the second. Contributions from Samarth Rane, Chigurupati Venkata, Shiven Borkar and Kasvankar ensured consistent pressure across both innings.
With the win, Goa collected seven points, including a bonus point, and now stand second in Elite Group D with 14 points from two matches, level with Bengal. The team had earlier defeated Chhattisgarh by an innings and 13 runs in their opening fixture.
Dessai praised the squad’s discipline and determination, noting that the performances reflect the growing maturity and confidence within the group. He expressed optimism that the team would carry their strong form into their upcoming match against Uttar Pradesh, scheduled from December 1 to 4 at Sanguem Ground.
