PANAJI: The Goa Cricket Association has confirmed an 18-member squad for the upcoming Vijay Merchant Trophy, which will take place in Raipur from December 7 to December 31, 2025. The team will be led by Vinit Kamat, who has been entrusted with guiding the state’s promising young cricketers through one of India’s most competitive youth tournaments.
The selected squad features a balanced mix of emerging batting, bowling and all-round talent. Alongside captain Vinit Kamat, the lineup includes Adeep Prabhu Miskin, Jaden Pereira, Sairaj Govekar, Vishesh Behl, Shaunak Teli, Uzair Shaikh, Ashutosh Shetty, Arnav Naik, Anuraag Bahadur, Sankalp Naik, Mrunal Naik, Sarang Govekar, Harsh Nain, Rish Pawaskar, Aryan Bhonsle, Swaraj Desai and Ishant Tivrekar.
The team announcement was made in the presence of senior officials of the association, including the president, secretary, treasurer, joint secretary and head coach. Members of the Junior Selection Committee were also present during the unveiling of the squad. Their combined inputs shaped a team that reflects both consistency in performance and long-term potential.
During the event, the association’s leadership highlighted the significance of the Vijay Merchant Trophy as a foundation for developing future state and national players. The tournament has long been regarded as a proving ground for cricketers at the under-16 level, offering exposure to high-pressure match situations and structured competition across different zones of the country.
Emphasis was placed on the importance of discipline, preparation and resilience as the team prepares for its campaign. The squad has been undergoing regular training sessions aimed at strengthening technical skills, match awareness and overall fitness. Officials expressed optimism that the group will use this opportunity to refine their abilities and demonstrate the competitive spirit associated with Goa’s cricketing culture.
