CANACONA: Under the ongoing Sangathan Srijan Abhiyan, the Congress party held a key organisational meeting in Canacona aimed at strengthening the Kushavati District Committee.
The meeting was chaired by Vijendra Singhla, AICC Observer and In-charge for Kushavati District, who also serves as Joint Treasurer of the All India Congress Committee. He was joined by Goa Pradesh Youth Congress President Archit Naik and Mahila Congress President Pratiksha Khalap.
Interactions during the meeting focused on gathering grassroots feedback, understanding the views of senior leaders and active karyakartas, and discussing strategies to strengthen and restructure the Kushavati District Committee. The appointment of a new District President was also on the agenda, with detailed deliberations to ensure the selection reflects commitment, capability, and acceptance among party cadre.
Addressing party workers, Singhla emphasised the importance of organisational discipline, unity and collective leadership. He assured that the formation of the new district committee, including the appointment of the District President, would be carried out in a transparent and inclusive manner, taking into account the voice of grassroots workers.
Among the prominent attendees was Chetan Desai, former President of the Goa Cricket Association and Chairman of Dnyan Prabodhini Mandal, which runs Shree Mallikarjun & Chetan Manju Desai College in Canacona. Desai, who was among the top claimants for a Congress ticket from the Canacona constituency in the last Assembly elections, participated actively in Friday’s Abhiyan.
Also present was Madadev Desai, a Congress rebel in the last Assembly elections who had contested on a Trinamool Congress ticket.
Other leaders who attended the meeting included former Congress candidate from Canacona Janardhan S. Bhandari, Canacona Block President Abel Borges, State Vice-President GPYC Goa Vaishnav Pednekar, South Goa GPCC District General Secretary Gaspar Coutinho, South Goa GPYC District President Pralay Bhagat, Canacona Block Youth Congress Committee President Manesh Naik Gaonkar, NSUI Canacona President Harsh Desai, former Sarpanch Ramu Naik (Shristal), former Deputy Sarpanch Sanjhu Naik (Shristal), Shiva Deshmukh (Panch and former Deputy Sarpanch, Shristal), Remy Fernandes, Sidharth Gayak, Sarvanand Komarpant, Vaishal Pagi, Kiran Zore and Jayesh Naik, among others.
