New Delhi: A WhatsApp conversation between arrested YouTuber Jyoti Malhotra and a Pakistani intelligence officer has brought to light her alleged links with Pakistan’s spy agency, ISI. Malhotra, who ran the travel vlog Travel with Jo, is under investigation for allegedly spying and sharing sensitive military information.
Sources say Malhotra, a 33-year-old resident of Hisar, Haryana, was in frequent contact with Ali Hasan, believed to be an operative of the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI). In one of the chats, she reportedly told Hasan, “Get me married in Pakistan”, suggesting a strong emotional connection and deepening the suspicions around her loyalties.
Coded Chats, Foreign Transactions, and a Spy Network
Investigating agencies have recovered multiple coded messages exchanged between Malhotra and her handler, allegedly related to Indian Army movements and covert operations.
Authorities have also flagged four bank accounts in her name, with financial transactions traced back to Dubai in at least one of them. These accounts are now under scrutiny to determine the extent and origin of the funds she received.
Trips to Pakistan and High Commission Links
Malhotra had reportedly visited Pakistan twice, during which she was introduced to Pakistani intelligence officials by Rahim, an employee at the Pakistan High Commission in Delhi. After returning to India, she allegedly continued to communicate with her handlers and provided them with sensitive information.
Initially, Malhotra’s father claimed she had traveled to Pakistan to shoot travel content. However, he later revised his statement, saying she had told him she was heading to Delhi, not Pakistan.
Part of a Broader Espionage Crackdown
Malhotra is one of over a dozen individuals arrested across Haryana, Punjab, and Uttar Pradesh in recent days as Indian authorities intensify surveillance amid renewed India-Pakistan tensions. The crackdown has led to the detention of suspects from various backgrounds, including a student, a businessman, and a security guard, all allegedly linked to a larger espionage network.
Officials say investigations are ongoing, with efforts focused on uncovering the full extent of information leaked and the broader spy ring operating within India.
