PANAJI: The Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (GBSHSE) said that teachers teaching General Foundation Course (GFC) in the vocational stream have no background in the Accounts subject.
“Lack of teachers’ knowledge on the account subject has resulted in the poor performance of the students in the public examination,” the circular states.
Further, the Board has directed schools to appoint faculty with an Accounts background or to ask the subject teacher to upgrade her or his skills so as to impart thorough knowledge of Accounts to the students to enhance the quality of teaching and learning of the subject.
“It was brought to the notice of the office that some teachers teaching GFC have no background in Accounts subject, resulting in poor performance of Class XII students in GFC,” said GBSHE Secretary Geraldina Mendes.
“As you are aware that GFC is a compulsory subject for all vocational courses after Class X, it must be noted that Accounts is an important subject in this course,” she added.
