PANAJI: The 118th Board Meeting of the Goa Forest Development Corporation (GFDC) was held recently, chaired by MLA Dr Deviya Rane, in the presence of PCCF Kamal Datta, MD-GFDC K. Ramesh Kumar, GM-GFDC Amar Heblekar, and other board members.
The meeting held detailed deliberations on the successful organisation of the Goa Forest Diversity Festival 2026, with members noting its significant impact and outreach across the State.
Key discussions focused on strengthening and upgrading infrastructure at cashew plantations and ecotourism sites, improving visitor facilities and activities, and exploring new avenues to expand sustainable ecotourism initiatives throughout Goa. The board also emphasised the rejuvenation of rubber plantations to enhance productivity and ensure long-term sustainability.
Addressing the meeting, MLA Dr Deviya Rane said, “These initiatives reflect GFDC’s strong commitment to conservation-driven development, livelihood generation for local communities, and the promotion of responsible eco-tourism across Goa.”
The board reiterated that such efforts would help balance environmental conservation with sustainable economic growth, while strengthening Goa’s eco-tourism potential.
