CM should mount pressure on Centre and Karnataka to protect Goa interest- Sardesai
Hours after Goa government filed contempt petition in Supreme Court against Karnataka’s act of illegal diversion of Mhadei river water, the Goa Forward Party (GFP) has demanded resignation of the Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant for the entire crisis.
The GFP president Vijai Sardesai said the State Government needs to take some political steps considering that BJP is also ruling at the Center and in Karnataka.
“CM should mount pressure on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and KA CM BS Yediyurappa to undo illegal diversion of Mhadei river water before November; failing which he should resign and admit that BJP sold Mhadei,” he said.
Sardesai demanded that the Chief Minister should make public all the communications he had with Prime Minister and Karnataka CM to protect Goa’s interest on Mhadei.
At the same time, the MLA sought to know as why the Chief Minister failed to take up Mhadei issue before Prime Minister, during his visit to Delhi, last week.
“CM is scared to raise Mhadei issue before PM,” he alleged.
The MLA accused Chie Minister of failing prey to Centre’s blackmail tactics to sell Goa. “There is no political willingness to resolve the Mhadei issue,” he charged.
