The Goa Housing Board has planned to construct 64 dwelling units dwelling units under PMAY in Xeldem-Quepem to provide good quality affordable housing to local Goans. The Goa Housing Board is designated as the implementing agency for affordable housing in a partnership component of “Housing for all by 2022” mission, under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (URBAN).
The Board in an effort to make the project affordable has proposed for enhancement of FAR and exemption of fees, taxes payable to the approving authorities to the Government.
In a press communiqué issued today by the Chairman, Goa Housing Board, Subhash Shirodkar has unveiled various initiatives being undertaken by the Board to live up to the commitment of the State government towards providing affordable accommodation to people in the State of Goa.
The cumbersome process of auction and allotment of plots and tenements is proposed to be simplified and made more transparent by migrating the entire process onto well-developed software and implementing online e- auction by giving wide publicity to the plots and tenements proposed to be auctioned. This will enable Goans to participate in e-auction process without having to attend the auction physically and will also enable wide spread participation by reduction of paperwork. The software is being developed by Goa Electronics Ltd.
Reputed and experienced architects and project management consultants are being empanelled to design and develop various properties belonging to the Goa Housing Board to step up the quality and standard of work.
The Goa Housing Board has decided to auction plots at Mapusa (2 nos.), Madel-Tivim (32 nos.), Farmagudi-Ponda (11nos.), Poddecem Sattari (35 nos.), Shristhal-Canacona (70 nos.), Xeldem-Quepem (33 nos.) in addition to its proposed project under the PMAY at Xeldem-Quepem, so as to provide an opportunity to Goans to own plots and construct housing facilities at affordable rates. The GHB also has decided to auction vacant tenements for disposal at various locales – tenement (flats/shops/offices) at Bordem-Bicholim (12 Single Bed, 18 Double bed and 12 shops), Colvale ( 7 one Room Kitchen), Sancoale ( 7 one Room Kitchen), Rumdamol-Davorlim (37 Single Bed Room flats and 11 shops), Porvorim ( 24 Double bed room flats), Baina Vasco (13 shops). The same will be auctioned by the Board.
Highlighting some of its earlier achievements, the press statement disclosed that the Goa Housing Board which started functioning from 1969 has so far constructed and allotted 1648 EWS, 2230 LIG, 1235 MIG, 520 HIG, 270 Shops, 21 Offices, developed 2638 residential plots at various locations in Goa.
Projects partly completed and those under progress during the FY 2019-2020 include construction of Commercial Complex at Bordem Bicholim consisting of 45 shops, 16 offices and 20 flats at a tendered cost of Rs.9.78 crores; Construction of 36 Double Bedroom flats at Colvale at a tendered amount of Rs. 5.95 crores; construction of 24 Double Bedroom flats at Colvale at a tendered amount of Rs. 3.96 crores; construction of New Market Complex, Marriage Hall, Conference Hall and Joggers Park at Porvorim at a tendered amount of Rs. 21.78 crores; construction of 60 Double Bedroom flats in sector “D” at Sancoale at a tendered amount of Rs. 11.67 crores; construction of 28 Single Bedroom flats at Curti Ponda at a tendered amount of Rs. 4.01 crores; construction of 16 duplex Bungalows at Farmagudi Ponda at a tendered amount of Rs. 6.50 crores and construction of 40 Double Bedroom flats, 2 single bed room flats with 14 shops in sector “K” at Sancoale at a tendered amount of Rs. 9.9 crores.
The press statement unveiled some key decisions which includes formulation of a policy to increase the residential criteria for allotment of dwelling units in order to benefit the local Goans. In addition, the Goa Housing Board has also proposed for various amendments in the Goa Housing Board (Registration, Allotment and sale of tenements/plots) Rules, 2016, so as to ensure that the plots are allotted to local Goans.
