PORVORIM: The Goa Human Rights Commission (GHRC) has directed the Vice President of Socorro to withdraw an eviction notice issued on December 24, 2025, against the family of a man arrested by Porvorim Police for allegedly raping a minor girl.
The notice, which instructed the family to vacate their residence in Socorro, was found to be “without jurisdiction” under the Goa Panchayat Raj Act and legally flawed, the GHRC noted.
The commission has ordered the VP to remove the notice, which had been pasted on the door of the house, within 48 hours and to file an action taken report within 15 days.
GHRC’s ruling underscores the importance of adherence to legal procedures, particularly in sensitive cases involving serious criminal allegations.
