PANAJI: Maria Murena Miranda, the Headmistress of the Government High School (GHS) in Morpirla, Quepem, was conferred with the prestigious National Award by the President of India Droupadi Murmu today, September 5, on the occasion of Teachers Day.
The Headmistress was among 46 teachers from across the country who will be conferred with the National Award for Teachers 2022.
Miranda hails from Assolna and holds a Masters of Science (MSc) and Bachelor of Education (B. Ed.) degrees.
The Department of School Education & Literacy, Ministry of Education organises a national-level event on Teachers Day, September 5 every year, to confer the National Awards to the best teachers of the country, selected through a rigorous, transparent and online three-stage selection process.
The purpose of the National Awards to Teachers is to celebrate the unique contribution of teachers in the country’s journey and to honour those teachers who, through their commitment and industry, have not only improved the quality of school education but also enriched the lives of their students.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will later interact with the winners of ‘The National Awards to Teachers 2022′ at his residence at 4.30 pm on the occasion of Teachers’ Day.
