CANACONA: GHS Khotigao and GHS Sadolxem advanced to the second round, winning their respective matches on the opening day of the IX Shubham Naik Memorial Interschool cricket Tournament.
In the first match Govt High School, Sadolxem won against St. Anthony High school Galgibag by 4 wickets. After winning the toss, St. Anthony High school scored 51 runs in 10 overs after losing 10 wickets. Govt H/s reached the target by losing 5 wickets in 8.3 overs.
In the second match, Govt High school Cotigao defeated St. Sebastian H/S by 6 wickets. Batting first st. Sebastian H/s scored 62 runs in 10 overs by losing 8 wickets. Govt. H/s reached the target of 63 runs in 9.1 overs by losing 4 wickets.
The tournament, organised by Canacona Sports Academy in association with Mandovi Parivar, was earlier inaugurated on Tuesday at the hands of CSA President Janardhan Bhandari in the presence of Sunil Paingankar, Dy. Sarpanch (Poinguinim), Loliem-Polem village ex-Sarpanch and panch Sachin Naik, Poinguinim panch Pravir Bhandari, and also different school P.E. Teachers and School cricket teams were present CSA Secretary Sharendra Naik, welcomed the guest, while all the guest spoke about the need to show discipline, dedication and determination, and concentration and to develop the skills by participation. Organising Secretary Sajjan Desai proposed a vote of thanks.
