CANACONA: Ghumat Gaj 2024 Ghumat Aarti Competition organized by Jai Bhandari Foundation & JanaSena of Canacona was held with great pomp and celebrations.
The competition was held on Sunday at Sanjay Bandekar Hall, Lata Mangeshkar Kalangana, Canacona.
The competition was inaugurated by CMC Chairperson Smt. Sara Naik Desai, Teacher and Social worker Ramrao Wagh, Social worker and activist Janardan Bhandari, President of Bhandari Samaj Sachin Naik lighted the candles.
Retired teacher and loyal activist of Bhandari Samaj Ramesh Bhandari and local artists Abhay Naik, Shubham Shantaram Naik and Sanchit Venkatrao Naik were honoured on the occasion.
Bhandari Foundation and Janasena Canacona of the Bhandari community set a good example by limiting the competition to Canacona taluka to give opportunities to artists from the taluka and preserve our culture for the next generation.
A total of 11 teams participated in the competition. The first prize of Rs 7000 and Gholto Karand went to Sri Mallikarjun Aarti Mandal, second prize of Rs 5000 and karandk went to Parashuram Aarti Mandal Painguinim and the third prize of karandk and Rs 3000 went to Bhumipurush Aarti Mandal Badsare(Gaondongrim), Consolation prizes wee awarded to SS Angle Higher Secondary Aarti Mandal and Bal Ghumat Aarti Mandal Painguinim.
Individual prizes in the competition were awarded to Ghumat playing- Parashuram Aarti Mandal, Singing- Mallikarjun Aarti Mandal, -Samel SS Angle, Kasal- Bhoomipurush Aarti Mandal.
Chandrakant Gadkar, Mohit Naik and Prajyot Desai were present as the judges of the competition.
The closing ceremony was attended by Speaker and Canacona MLA Ramesh Tawadkar, Former Minister, Dayanand Manjrekar, Former Minister, Jai Salgaonkar, Former MLA Kiran Kandolkar, President of Rudreshwar Temple- Yashwant Malkar, Jana Sena Chief Janardhan Bhandari, President of Cancona Bhandari Samaj Nitesh Naik, Govt High School Headmaster Sudesh Naik,
Suvarna Bhandari introduced the guests, while President Sachin Naik welcomed them. The program was moderated by Yashwant Naik, Ms. Sanchit Naik and Venkatrai Naik. A vote of thanks was proposed by Jagdish Bhandari.
