PANAJI: The Goa Institute of Public Administration & Rural Development (GIPARD) organized a study visit to Kerala for 14 Elected Representatives of Village Panchayats of Sao Matias, Volvoi, Sarzora, Harvalem, Keri -Tiracol and Mencurem.
The visit aims to provide a platform for learning from the best practices implemented by the Government of Kerala in crucial areas such as Climate Change, Disaster Management, Waste Management, and the development of elderly and child-friendly Panchayats.
The team, led by Assistant Director of GIPARD, Dr. Seema Fernandes, included Dr. Aditi Rane, Faculty at PES College, Ms. Hegel Da Costa, Faculty at GIPARD, and Ms. Martha Mascarenhas, State Resource Person at GIPARD . The exposure trip offered the participants valuable insights into Kerala’s successful governance strategies and innovative approaches toward sustainable development and efficient local governance.
During the visit the team also visited Kerala Raj Bhavan to meet Governor of Kerala, Shri. Rajendra Arlekar, who warmly welcomed the delegation. The Governor, took time to personally engage with the participants, sharing insights and expressing support for the knowledgesharing initiative. The interaction allowed the delegates to gain deeper perspectives on governance and development from a leader who understands the region’s unique challenges.
