PANAJI: In a strong statement today, Girish Chodankar, former President of the Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC), expressed his deep concern over the ongoing harassment of Sunil Kawthankar by the Goa Police. Chodankar emphasized that this action appears to be an attempt to silence voices that are bravely exposing the alleged nexus between the Home Ministry, the Goa Government, and land grabbers.
“I am appalled that the Goa Police are targeting Sunil Kawthankar for shedding light on these serious allegations. This appalling act is a blatant misuse of power and a clear attempt to intimidate those who dare to speak the truth,” Chodankar stated.
He further criticized Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant and the Goa Police for their apparent efforts to divert attention away from their pressing issues. “With increasing demands for the Chief Minister’s resignation amidst the Escapegate scandal involving land grab accusations and the Cash for Job Scam, it seems that pressure is mounting on the authorities,” Girish Chodankar added.
Chodankar concluded by urging the Goa Police to focus on their fundamental duty: “The main priority of the Goa Police should be to apprehend the escaped accused involved in these scandals, rather than targeting opposition leaders who have courageously brought these matters to light.
