PANAJI: In a move to promote hands-on learning and build capacity in emerging technologies, the Goa Information Technology Development Corporation (GITDC), in association with the Department of Information Technology, Electronics and Communications (DITE&C), has commenced trial training sessions in 3D printing technology.
The first session was held on November 21, 2025, at the Additive Manufacturing Hub, Altinho. The inaugural session was attended by Kabir Shirgaonkar, Director of DITE&C, Milind Sakhardande, Joint Director, DITE&C, and Subrai Nadkarni, Chief Engineer, GITDC.
The training was conducted by Ryan Vaz of Infinyt3D Pvt. Ltd and saw the participation of around 12 officials from GITDC. The session focused on practical exposure to 3D printing, offering hands-on training in 3D modelling and design. Participants were introduced to the use of 3D pens and the basic concepts of 3D technology through a mix of presentations and practical demonstrations covering both theoretical and applied aspects.
On completion of the programme, all participants were awarded an Elementary 3D Printing Certificate.
Speaking on the initiative, Kabir Shirgaonkar said the training programme is a significant step towards equipping government personnel with future-ready skills. He added that introducing advanced tools such as 3D printing would help departments explore practical applications of the technology and improve public service delivery.
The skilling initiative, led by IT, Electronics and Communications Minister Rohan Khaunte, aims to enhance the technical competencies of government officers through a structured three-module training programme—beginner, intermediate and advanced—covering the entire spectrum of 3D printing applications, from basic design to advanced prototyping.
As part of the initiative, a dedicated 3D Printing Bureau is also being set up to handle design and printing assignments for various government departments.
The next training session will be organised for government officials through the Department of ITE&C, subject to the availability of participants.
