PONDA: The locals in Usgao- Ganjem Gramsabha claiming that they are deprived of jobs in Industries operating in Panchayat, demanded that these industries give priority jobs to local Units.
Some companies pay monthly Rs 50,000 to Rs 60,000, but locals are not beneficiaries of this as they are sidelined in jobs. They questioned the use of bringing Industries into villages that sacrifice their land, water and power for their operations.
Annoyed, Gramsabha locals said they face Industries pollution, but outsiders grab jobs. It can easily be noticed that people from distant places get a job in Industries in our Village.
The locals warned that this would not be tolerated in future. Rahul Naik demanded Panchayat take the lead in discussions with Companies in the Panchayat area and should provide jobs to locals in Industries.
The locals said there are at least 13 Industries in Usgao Ganjem Panchayat. However, most of the Units employ outsiders. It is noticed that some companies are hiring buses to bring employees into their Companies from various parts of Goa.
The locals urged the Panchayat to lead and call joint meetings of Industry owners, including HR Managers and officials and discuss with villagers about jobs to locals.
