Reacting to the debate on politicians and bureaucrats getting admitted in the private hospitals rather than GMC for COVID19 treatment, Minister for Waste Management Michael Lobo says it is each one’s choice but also says that GMC has the best facilities in the State.
Speaking to goemkarponn.com, Lobo said that whenever the patient is critical they are finally sent to GMC only.
“After COVID19 positive tests, people opt for either GMC or if they can afford they go Manipal. But the latest three wards which are open now have the best of facilities for the people with co-morbidities,” he said.
He says the GMC doctors are really taking care of the patients and treating the patients well.
“There is a lot of hue and cry about some small issues at GMC, but I feel today GMC gives the best treatment to all types of ailments so we have to rely on GMC. Some people who can afford to go to private hospital are free to go,” he said.
He said that when people from neighbouring states are coming to GMC for treatment because it gives good medical care.
“So I feel that Goans should have faith on GMC till the vaccine comes. There are some politicians who want to get admitted in private there are some who stayed in GMC like Clafasio Dias. Likewise people have options to either GMC or any other private hospitals,” he said.
He says that the fatality rate in GMC is more only because when the person is critical they are sent from private hospital to the GMC.
“We have the best of doctors and we have to have faith in them,” he said.
