PANAJI: The Goa Association of Resident Doctors (GARD) recently met Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant to discuss the revision and enhancement of stipends for resident doctors at Goa Medical College (GMC).
GARD representatives highlighted that the stipend for postgraduate doctors has not been revised since 2015, stressing the urgent need for an update to match inflation and workload. They also pointed out that many residents are the sole earners for their families, making the revision crucial.
The association noted that other states currently offer stipends of around ₹1 lakh, while in Goa the process has remained stagnant, with files moving back and forth without resolution.
Acknowledging the concerns, the Chief Minister assured that the stipend and salary of resident doctors will be increased and directed the Under-Secretary (Finance), Goa, to expedite the revision process.
