PANAJI: Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) in Bambolim is set to hire 60 junior resident doctors to address the critical staffing shortage at the esteemed tertiary healthcare institution.
This initiative comes in response to a recent report by the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG), which revealed that the hospital faced a significant deficit of 51% in its staff.
GMCH’s Director (Admin) Nathine Araujo has issued an advertisement for opening for 60 junior resident positions, each offering a fixed monthly salary of Rs 60,000.
The roles are specifically allocated across various departments, including Cardiovascular Thoracic Surgery (CVTS), Urology, Neurosurgery, Pediatrics Surgery, Plastic Surgery and Burns, Nephrology, Neurology, Endocrinology, Medical Oncology, and Cardiology.
The hospital has scheduled interviews for the positions on August 14th at 3 pm, with document verification scheduled for 9 am on the same day. This hiring initiative follows the CAG report’s critique of the severe shortage of doctors, nurses, and paramedics across public hospitals in the state, emphasizing the urgent need to address the staffing gaps.
