PANAJI: Goa Medical College (GMC) Dean Dr Shivanand Bandekar today said that his team of doctors has successfully treated a patient suffering from Aneurysm.
“The patient was 75 years old and from South Goa. When we did the ultrasound, we figured out that he was suffering from Aneurysm and he had no chance of survival,” said Bandekar.
He further said that patient was having massive abdominal pain.
“The total cost for the treatment was 12 lakhs, Health Minister Vishwajit Rane took this as a special case and funds were sanctioned, and this operation was successful,” he added.
Dr Bandekar said that patient is now living a comfortable life.
“Currently, we are having two more such patients who are in the pipeline, and we will do all to save these patients
Aneurysms are ballooning and weakened area in an artery.
Aneurysms often occur in the aorta, brain, back of the knee, intestine or spleen. A ruptured aneurysm can result in internal bleeding and stroke. It can sometimes be fatal.
