PANAJI: With Dussehra around the corner on October 1 and 2, 2025, the Goa government has issued comprehensive directives to ensure public safety, proper crowd management, and law and order during the festival.
The instructions, issued by South Goa Collector Egna Cleetus, call for close coordination between government authorities and temple committees, including holding preparatory meetings to review safety protocols. Police have been directed to deploy sufficient personnel and maintain 24-hour surveillance at key locations.
Temple committees are required to set up separate entry and exit points, secure stability certificates and necessary licenses, and coordinate with relevant departments. Emergency services, including ambulances and fire brigades, will be stationed at sites expecting large gatherings.
The order highlights previous concerns regarding overcrowding, traffic congestion, and inadequate crowd management, warning that failure to comply will be considered dereliction of duty and may invite legal action under the Disaster Management Act.
