PANAJI: The Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC) of Goa Police has petitioned the North District and Sessions Court to revoke the bail granted to Israeli national Yaniv Benaim, also known as Atala, citing concerns that he may engage in further criminal activity.
Authorities highlighted that Atala is currently facing ongoing investigations and trials in multiple serious cases registered in Goa, and his release could impede the progress of these proceedings.
Last month, the District Court had ordered the immediate release of Atala within 24 hours, directing the Superintendent of Police and officers of the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO), Panaji, to ensure compliance.
Atala was originally arrested in April 2025 following an ANC raid on his flat in Siolim, where narcotics worth approximately Rs 8.7 lakh were recovered.
The ANC has emphasized that his continued freedom could increase the risk of reoffending or absconding, potentially obstructing ongoing investigations into serious offenses.
