PANAJI: In the vibrant setting of Goa’s Peddem Sports Complex, the ASHMITA Khelo India Pencak Silat Women’s League (West Zone) 2024-2025, held from February 21st to 23rd, 2025, witnessed a remarkable display of martial arts prowess. The event, which took place at the Badminton Hall, Mapusa, saw Goa’s athletes emerge as stars, clinching a total of 20 medals. This impressive haul not only underscores the state’s growing prowess in Pencak Silat but also highlights the dedication and skill of its athletes.
The medal winners included Chrissie Fernandes, who secured a gold medal in the Tunggal Category for Sub-Juniors. Madiya Munir Mulla, Madhu Chauhan, and Priyanka Mashnu Tambulkar each won silver medals in their respective categories. Additionally, 16 other athletes from Goa took home bronze medals across various categories, demonstrating the depth of talent within the team.
The success of Goa’s athletes can be attributed to the strong support from their coaching team. Led by Head Coach Anthony Cedley Braganza, with assistance from Dhiraj Harmalkar, Nikular Khan, Ajay Karbotekar, and Aley Sam Da Silva, the team was well-prepared for the competition. Joaquim Antonio Da Silva served as the team manager, ensuring smooth operations throughout the event.
