PANAJI: The Goa Badminton Association organized a highly interactive meeting involving parents of state-ranked badminton players and coaches at the Indoor Stadium, Campal, Panaji. During the meeting, parents were briefed about the association’s upcoming activities, tournament protocols, selection procedures, upgrade programmes, academy plans, and other initiatives. The forum also provided an opportunity for parents to voice their suggestions and concerns. Many expressed their satisfaction with the initiative and suggested improvements such as enhancing infrastructure and repair works at stadiums, including parents in the consultative processes, formulating a concrete policy regarding the participation of non-Goan players, and seeking exemptions from schools during tournaments and camps.
Manoj Patil, President of the Goa Badminton Association, emphasized his commitment to involving parents, coaches and other stakeholders in the consultative process to elevate badminton’s status in the state.
“We are also looking at generating CSR support to fund grassroots training and help our ranked players achieve national-level excellence. The meeting marks a significant step towards a collaborative approach, and we will have regular meetings like these,” said Patil. Secretary Praveen Shenoy presented the association’s vision, which includes the imminent launch of the Goa Badminton Centre of Excellence, upskill training and development programmes for players and coaches, and exchange programmes with players from other academies and states.
