Panaji: In a proud moment for the state, Goa has been awarded the title of ‘Best Destination for Resort Weddings’ at the prestigious Wed In India 2025 Awards, held at the Taj Palace, New Delhi. The award was received by Sanjeev Ahuja, IAS, Secretary (Tourism), Government of Goa, on behalf of the state.
Reacting to the recognition, Tourism Minister Rohan A. Khaunte expressed his appreciation and said, “Goa’s unique mix of luxury, vibrant culture, and scenic landscapes continues to make it the top choice for couples celebrating their big day. Our focus remains on enhancing infrastructure and support services that benefit the wedding sector, ensuring that every celebration contributes meaningfully to Goa’s economy and communities.”
Tourism Secretary Sanjeev Ahuja, while accepting the award, said that Goa’s appeal lies in its blend of heritage sites, high-end resorts, and cultural richness. “This honour motivates us to further strengthen our tourism ecosystem and ensure that destination weddings translate into employment and economic value for Goans,” he added.
Kedar Naik, Director of Tourism, highlighted the rising demand for Goa as a premier wedding destination. “This award reflects Goa’s growing charm in the eyes of wedding planners and couples. We aim to make every celebration here truly memorable by offering seamless, culturally rich, and warm hospitality experiences,” he stated.
The Department of Tourism, Government of Goa, continues to promote the state as a preferred location for both domestic and international destination weddings. With a renewed focus on innovation, infrastructure, and inclusive growth, the state aims to further strengthen its position in the booming wedding tourism sector.
