Agra/Goa: The Uttar Pradesh Police have arrested 10 individuals, including a woman identified as Ayesha alias S.B. Krishna, in connection with an alleged forceful religious conversion and radicalisation racket operating across the state. Ayesha, originally from Odisha, has reportedly been residing in St. Andre, Goa, on rent for several years.
According to senior police officials, the group was receiving foreign funding to carry out illegal religious conversions and allegedly radicalise locals, particularly in vulnerable communities. Investigators have uncovered links between the accused and banned organisations such as the Popular Front of India (PFI), Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI), and even some extremist groups based in Pakistan.
Police sources say that the accused played varied roles in the racket: arranging and distributing funds, offering safe houses, providing legal support, preparing fake documents for conversion, and supplying new mobile phones and SIM cards to evade detection.
The network’s scale and reach are still under investigation, with authorities yet to disclose the exact number of forced conversions linked to the group. The case is being closely monitored by central agencies and could involve additional arrests in multiple states, including Goa and Odisha.
